Privacy Policy

Effective October 14, 2026

Short version: Filmbook doesn't collect your data. There's nothing to disclose because there's nothing being sent anywhere.

What Filmbook collects

Nothing. Filmbook does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, usage data, or analytics. There are no third-party SDKs, no trackers, and no advertising identifiers in the app.

How your documents are handled

Markdown files you open are parsed and rendered entirely on your device. Filmbook never uploads your documents or their contents anywhere.

Local settings storage

Filmbook saves your reading preferences — theme, font, text size, and similar settings — using Apple's standard on-device UserDefaults storage. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted.

Remote content inside your documents

If a Markdown file you open contains a link to a remote image, your device will load that image directly from its source, the same way a web browser would when you open a link. Filmbook itself does not track, log, or analyze this activity, and has no visibility into it beyond what's needed to display the image.

Third-party libraries

Filmbook renders Markdown, math, and diagrams using open-source components (cmark-gfm, swift-markdown, KaTeX, and Mermaid) that are bundled with the app and run entirely on-device — they do not phone home.

Children's privacy

Since Filmbook collects no data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect data from children either.
